Elizabeth Township Commissioners reorganized Monday, with Dr. Kyle Walk stepping down as chairman.
“It has been a pleasure working with the township this year,” Walk said. “I learned so much about the township working with each and every one of you.”
Walk said he would like to see every commissioner serve as chairman to have that experience.
Dr. Bart Rocco was nominated to the chairmanship and approved on a unanimous vote. Dan Poirier was named vice chairman. Joanne Beckowitz was absent.
“I hope I can fill your shoes,” Rocco said to Walk. “We appreciate your tireless effort in moving the township forward.”
Commissioners also reappointed Damien Michaels as emergency management coordinator, with John Walter Jr., William Greenawald and John Snelson serving as deputy coordinators.
Walk was appointed to the administrative committee of the South Hills Area Council of Governments board of directors, with Andrew Kuzma as the alternate.
Also Monday, acting police Chief Jerry Cimba reported a 25% reduction in crime in the township in 2020. Cimba said a license plate reader system for the Boston Bridge intersection will cost $13,188, which will be split with Forward Township.
