Judy R. Mason, 78, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Bridgeville Rehabilitation and Care Center. A daughter of the late Ethel Swaney, she was born in Uniontown on June 11, 1942. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Judy’s favorite pastime was football, especially her Steelers. She was an avid fan, never missing a game, up to and including this season, watching them make it to the playoffs. She will be watching over them in heaven, rooting for the Super Bowl. Survivors include her daughter and son in-law, Robin and Bill Owens of Belle Vernon; and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Tina Mason of Newell; three grandchildren, Meghan (Aaron) Bethem-Beck of Sylva, N.C., William (Kaitlyn) Owens of Belle Vernon and Kera (Patrick) Owens of Monessen; two great-grandchildren, Beatrix (Bea) Beck of Sylva, N.C., and Robert James (RJ) of Belle Vernon; a sister, Vanessa Mavrikas of Sarasota, Fla.; and a brother, Ray (Linda) Pettit of Uniontown; one sister-in-law, Rebecca Pezzell of Belle Vernon; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Robert L. Mason; and in-laws Lowman and Eleanor Mason. Judy will be missed by many. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
