Violet Popovich Bobby – Belle Vernon

Violet Popovich Bobby, 94, of Belle Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at Baptist Homes, Castle Shannon. Born May 24, 1926, in Monessen, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Chenger Popovich. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 60 years, Mrs. Bobby was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Monessen and was retired from the former Miller’s Department Store, Charleroi, where she worked as a sales clerk. When she was younger Violet enjoyed bowling and playing cards and currently enjoyed word puzzles. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, George David and Judith Anne Bobby of Long Island, N.Y.; daughter, Violet Bobby of Crafton; two grandchildren, Melissa (Kevin) Sebastian, Matthew Bobby; great-granddaughter, Riley Violet Sebastian; and a brother Dan, Popovich of Mauldin, S.C. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Bobby; brother, Tom Popovich; and a sister, Eleanor Gaspich. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183, followed funeral services at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Stephen J. Wahal of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Condolences accepted at www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
