Agnes Clark Burns, 91, of New Eagle, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2020, in her home. She was born March 8, 1929, in Monongahela, the daughter of James C. Laird and Edna W. Daugherty Laird Scott. For over 40 years, Agnes was employed at Span & Taylor Pharmacy, retiring in 2018. She was a devoted employee who took great pride in her job and made many friends over the years. She enjoyed bowling in various leagues throughout her life, going out with friends, going shopping and going to the casinos later in life. Her favorite times were when she and her children spent time together. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Susan (Barry) Wood of Ooltewah, Tenn., Fred (Betsy) Angerman of Rock Hill, S.C., Tony (Roxanne) Burns of Venice, Fla., and Shawn (Carla) Burns of Irwin; eight grandchildren, Lee (Lance) Carden, Julie King, Andy (Ashley) King, Traci Wood (Michael Buchanan), Amy Hobbs, Brandon (Tawnya) Burns, Justin Burns and Brenden Burns; along with several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen A. Burns Jr., who died March 23, 1992; and two sisters, Jean Ortallono and Etta Rubino McDonald. Agnes will be buried in Monongahela Cemetery. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, her family is planning to have a memorial service for Agnes at a later date.
