John R. ‘Rhinestone’ Gereshenski – Monongahela

John R. “Rhinestone” Gereshenski, 78, of Monongahela, died Dec. 18, 2020. He was the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Johnson Gereshenski. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Frances E. Remen Gereshenski; two sons, John V. (Lois Johnston) Gereshenski and Michael R. Gereshenski; a daughter, Crystal Jo (Edward Barskite) Gereshenski; three grandchildren, Christy A. (John Quattro) Gereshenski, Christina D. (Edgar Bautisa-Hernandez) Gereshenski and John R. Gereshenski; a great-granddaughter, Isabella A. Quattro; three sisters, Eunice (Larry) Litterini, Beverly Kach and Francis Smith; and a half-brother, Edward Gereshenski. John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a man who could fix anything and enjoyed watching westerns, listening to polkas, cooking and baking and was an avid fisherman and euchre player. John retired from Heavy Highway and Construction and owned his own business, John’s Garage, in Monongahela. He was a member of the Haymakers’ Association, Hoot Owls Athletic Association and American Legion Post 949 in Carroll Township. John received excellent care from Melissa Jamison and David Hudascek of Vitas Healthcare and Irina Frye of Diversified Human Services Inc. Preceding him in death are a grandson, Roy C. Gereshenski; a daughter-in-law, Christine Denise Gereshenski; three sisters, Phyllis Gresh, Dolores Kovalsky and Stella Gereshenski; two brothers, Raymond Gereshenski and George Gereshenski; and a half-brother, George Gereshenski. At the family’s request, there will be no services held. MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, was in charge of the arrangements.
