Mary Bernadette Fayak Cope – Monessen
Mary Bernadette Fayak Cope, 94, of Monessen, passed away on Tuesday Dec. 15, 2020, in Mount Macrina Manor, Uniontown. She was born on Aug. 1, 1926, in Monessen, the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Kamenicky Fayak. Mary was a 1944 graduate of Monessen High School. On Nov. 7, 1948, Mary married the love of her life, Harry William “Bud” Cope, who survives her. Their marriage of 72 years was a joy to behold and a blessing to their children, their family and their friends. Never apart, they spent these last 21 months together at Mount Macrina Manor, still in love and always holding hands. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother who placed family above everything, Mary was a talented seamstress who worked at Miller’s in Charleroi in the alterations department, as well as at Zelinsky’s in Charleroi and Formality in Donora. Brides and bridal parties throughout the valley experienced her wonderful talent and professionalism, but she most enjoyed sewing for her family. Mary was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church in Monessen and a member of its choir for many years. She was also a member of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Harry W. Cope Jr. of Brownsville, Richard Michael (Janice) Cope of Indiana, Pa., and Timothy Patrick (Annette) Cope of Long Branch; daughter, Kathleen Marie Heino of Long Branch; sister, Catherine Amoroso of Donora; 14 grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Klun, Harry William Cope III, Danielle (David) Croushore, Amanda (John) Marasti, Cari (Joseph) Eitel, Richard Cope, Lisa Heino, Lindsey (Nathan) Dell, Christina Heino, Timothy (Stephanie) Cope Jr., Stephen (Brittany) Cope, Christopher Cope, Sean Cope and Megan (Josh) Clark; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Paul Cope; and by her sister, Irene Fontes. A private viewing was held at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. & CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen, with a funeral Mass celebrated in Epiphany of Our Lord Church with the Rev. Michael J.
