Wagner’s Restaurant to open Sunday for cancer fundraiser

It’s been said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Whether that’s true or not, a drive-through breakfast this Sunday could be the most beneficial meal of that day.

Wagner’s Restaurant in Elizabeth Township is hosting a pancake breakfast to benefit two medics from Southwest Regional EMS who are battling cancer. It’s the only time since March that the restaurant will be open.

Owner Glenn Wagner felt it was important to offer the meal to help Amanda Gogoel and Brenda Dornin with their expenses as they wage their medical battles.

“It’s to help them with their financial needs with their medications and all their bills at home, the normal things when you aren’t able to work,” Wagner said.

It is a battle Wagner is familiar with, not only because of the COVID-19 restrictions that have made it impractical to operate his restaurant, but also because of his own medical issues.

“We’re basically paying it forward,” he said. “I have leukemia and they both supported me when I was going through my two bouts.”
