Thomas J. Feehan Sr. – formerly of Monessen

By obits

Thomas J. Feehan Sr., 88, formerly of Monessen, passed away on Dec. 15, 2020, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born on Sept. 15, 1932, the youngest child of Clarence and Elizabeth Meluck Feehan. He attended St. Leonard Catholic School and was a 1950 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a longtime resident of Monessen and, upon retirement, lived in Bonita Springs, Fla. and later Naples, Fla. He was employed for many years as a conductor on the Monessen Southwestern Railroad at the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co. in Monessen and later worked as a trainman on the Monongahela Railroad for Conrail Corp. and for the Norfolk and Southern Railway, from which he retired in 1995. Tom served his country with the U.S. Army, 28th Infantry Division, during the Korean Conflict, having deployed to Germany and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was a life member of the Monessen Elks Lodge 733 and a long-time member of the Monessen Hilltop Fireman’s Club. He enjoyed his second career as a breeder and trainer of harness horses throughout his adult life, often with his family involved. He was a licensed trainer and driver of harness horses and raced regularly at The Meadows Racetrack and at county fairs in Pennsylvania and Ohio for over 30 years. Mr. Feehan is survived by his devoted partner of 16 years, Patricia Counts of Virginia Beach, Va.; his daughter, Mary Jane Krosoff of Rostraver Township and her partner Charlie Bowers; his son, Thomas J. Feehan Jr. and wife Cecilia Brickerd of Hyattsville, Md.; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Joseph Krosoff, David Ryan Feehan (Kari) and children Bella and Declan, Krista Klorczyk (Ted) and daughter Daphne, Murphy Feehan and children Brayden and Laila; and Shannon Crisante (Stephen) and children Stephen and Skylyn. He was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Marie Kroeschel Feehan; sister, Dorothy Weisel; brothers, Joseph Feehan and Clarence Feehan Jr.; son, David Michael Feehan and an infant son. A private Mass of Catholic burial will be held at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, Monessen, with interment to follow at Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family requests that any remembrances be made to the American Diabetes Association. The ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. Grand Blvd. and Marion Ave. www.billicksfuneralhome.com has been entrusted with the arrangements.
