By obits

Frederick “Fred” Murdock, 75, of Rostraver Township, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020, at his home. He was born Dec. 25, 1944, in North Charleroi, the son of the late Frederick Murdock and the late Clara Sabo Murdock. Fred always had a joke to make you smile. He loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, wine, the New York Times crossword puzzles, old western movies and he traveled to all but one of our 50 states. Most of all, he loved his family. He worked with youth sports through the DYAA, especially with the football and baseball programs, and coached in the Pony League World Series in Washington, Pa. Fred was a veteran, serving 12 years with the U.S. Air Force as a space surveillance officer. He went on to work with the United States Postal Service and retired in 2006. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia McGuire. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 53 years, Ruth Adamusko Murdock; a son, Christopher (Leslie) Murdock of Ohio; a daughter, Rebecca (Shane) Eye of Florida; five grandchildren, Nate (Bree) Senf, Nicole (Spencer) Senf, Rachel Murdock, Wynnleigh Murdock and Hallie Murdock; a great-grandaughter, Addison Senf; and two brothers, Bob (Shirl) Murdock of Monessen and Jim (Nancy) Murdock of California. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, 724-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service Inc. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. To be socially responsible during this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue to limit the attendance to 25 people inside the funeral home at any given time. Guests are asked to obey social distancing guidelines and personal protection guidelines, which include wearing masks within the funeral home. Guests may be asked to limit their visitation time so that all visitors will have the opportunity to pay their respects. Thank you. Fred’s family would like to express their understanding for those who are unable to pay their respects due to the pandemic. In lieu of flowers, we are asking that donations be made to the Rostraver Public Library, 700 Plaza Drive, Belle Vernon, PA 15012. To share a condolence, please visit www.massafrafuneralhome.com.
