Mary A. Guzy – North Charleroi

Mary A. Guzy, 99, of North Charleroi, passed away Sunday, Dec. 13, 2020, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born Jan. 19, 1921, in Ellsworth, the daughter of the late Pasqualina Pietrantonio and Luigi DiNardo. Mrs. Guzy was a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church parish in Charleroi. She retired from Monongahela Valley Hospital in the laundry department. She is survived by her children, Gloria Nicoll of Fort Mill, S.C., Janise Calcek and husband Charles Sr. of North Charleroi and Steven Guzy and his wife Susan of McDonald; sister-in-law, Helen Zak of Texas; and a son-in-law, Karl Benzio of Fort Mill, S.C. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Dr. Karl Benzio Jr., Kimberly Vinsett, Stephen Kyle Benzio, Michael and Matthew Nicoll, Maribeth Jordan and Charles Calcek Jr., Jennifer Auten, Amanda Mattingly and Taylor Guzy; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to Mrs. Guzy’s parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Guzy; her daughter, Joyce Benzio; son-in-law, Michael Nicoll; two sisters, Lena DiNardo and Flora Zak; and four brothers, Ernest, Frank, David and Albert DiNardo. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. MASKS MUST BE WORN AND PLEASE LIMIT YOUR VISIT TO FIVE MINUTES OR LESS. FOLLOWING THE GUIDELINES OF GOV. WOLF, ONLY 10 PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED AT A GIVEN TIME IN THE FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 1000 Lookout Ave., Charleroi. Friends attending the funeral service are being asked to go directly to the church. Parastas services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schrock-hogan.com.
