No tax hike in Donora budget

Donora residents will not see a tax increase in 2021 after council members passed a budget Thursday — though it didn’t come without some disagreements.
Councilman Joe Greco opened the meeting by asking to table the budget until a later meeting could be scheduled so council could discuss several issues with the spending plan in more detail.
Specifically, Greco and Councilwoman Cindy Brice wanted to discuss the raises that the 2021 budget gives to nearly every borough employee. They wanted to talk about the amount of each raise, the length of time an employee had been with the borough and whether the budget could withstand the increased salaries beyond 2021.
Councilman Donnie Pavelko also said he didn’t understand why council didn’t hold a budget meeting for all council members to discuss the budget in detail and felt there would have been less discord if such a meeting had taken place.
