John Bernard Martin Jr., 74, of Stockdale passed away on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020 in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc. Born in North Charleroi on Oct. 1, 1946, to the late John Bernard and Margaret Vivian Kosko Martin. John was an electrician who was retired from Combustion Engineering, Monongahela Plant. John was a proud Monessen High School Graduate Class of 1964, who never missed a reunion and he also enjoyed going to the gym to talk with his old high school friends. He served his country in the United States National Guard and he served his community on the Stockdale City Council. John loved sports such as the Steelers, Penguins and Pine Richland athletics, where his grandchildren play school sports. He liked playing with his new gadgets such as cell phones and laptops. He also took many memorable vacations with his family to Walt Disney World in Florida. John is survived by his wife, Thelma (Kent) Martin; one daughter, Sherri Martin; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald (Lana) Martin; three grandchildren, Owen, Nolan and Adalyn Martin; one brother Terry Martin; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenues, Monessen, www.billicksfuneralhome.com. The funeral service will be private on Tuesday with Father Mike Crookston officiating. Entombment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Due to the new COVID-19 restrictions only 10 guests will be allowed inside the funeral home at a time. We ask that you please keep your stay short so we can accommodate everyone also masks and social distancing are required.
