Rostraver Township detectives are investigating a burglary at St. Anne Parish, police Chief Greg Resetar said Thursday.

The incident occurred in the morning hours of Saturday at the church, located at 1870 Rostraver Road.

An unidentified male operating a silver single-cab pickup truck was captured on video surveillance pulling into the parking lot, according to a prepared statement from the chief.

The male entered the church sanctuary and later gained access through a rectory office door. He removed an undetermined amount of currency and checks from the office area, police said, and then left the scene, heading South on Rostraver Road.

The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build and brown hair. He was wearing a black pullover shirt over an unbuttoned tan three-quarter-length overcoat, gray pants and a black baseball cap with an unknown logo, police said.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the police department at 724-929-8811. Resetar said all calls will be kept confidential.

A Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg spokesman said clergy and church leaders from St. Anne Parish do not want to comment on the incident.
