Sarah Josephine Newman Lariccia of Monessen passed away on Dec. 10, 2020, of complications from COVID-19. She lived a long, blessed and happy life of 96 years. Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Joe; and her three brothers, Paul, David and Glenn. She leaves behind her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Jim Britton of Belle Vernon, and Valerie and Bob Swann of Monessen. Sarah also leaves behind three granddaughters, Erin Britton of Pittsburgh, Lesley Britton of Pittsburgh and Carly (Eujone) Kim of The Woodlands, Texas, as well as four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sarah graduated in 1942 from Monessen High School, where she met her future husband Joe in the glee club. After high school, Sarah was trained and served as a nanny in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, while Joe served in the Army during World War II. They were married in 1946 after his return.
