Donald Alvin Reed, 84, of North Belle Vernon, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born March 31, 1936, in Monessen, he was the son of the late Paul Reed Sr. and Lenora Frazier Reed. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon area, Mr. Reed was Methodist by faith and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.Donald was retired from U.S. Steel, South Side plant, where he worked as a computer technician. He was a semi-professional roller skater in his younger years, competing and judging competitions. Donald also enjoyed working on cars and working in his yard cutting grass. He is survived by his wife, Julia Ann Alton Reed, to whom he was married 55 years; four children, Donell Leopold and husband Dr. Gary Leopold of Wichita, Kan., Raymond Reed of North Belle Vernon, Rolanda Reed of Belle Vernon, Sharen Ray of Seattle, Wash.; five grandchildren, Ashley, Lucy, Axel, Samuel, Lexa; and a brother, Daryl Reed of Belle Vernon.He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Reed Jr.; and a sister, Betty McCleary. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11 at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Parzynski Funeral Home & Cremations LLC with the Rev. Jack Washabaugh officiating.
