Albert J. Vargo, 93, of Belle Vernon, Washington Township, passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, at Hallsworth House, Monessen. Born April 19, 1927, in Richeyville, he was the son of the late John and Ann Fabian Vargo. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 69 years, Mr. Vargo was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church, Belle Vernon, was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from U.S. Steel National Tube, McKeesport plant. He was a member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 and its bowling and golf leagues. He enjoyed woodworking, making cabinets and working in his garden. Pappap was known as the “babysitter” for his grandchildren, and, most of all, loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Terry Menzler of Belle Vernon and Darlene and Joe Leone of Cranberry Township; five grandchildren, Ryan Christy and wife Kelly, Tara Edwards and husband Matthew, Rebecca Pawuk and husband Ryan, Morgan Kroskie and husband Jonathan, Anthony Leone and wife Lori; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Ambrose Vargo; sister Martha Clish; and three brothers, John Vargo, Frank Vargo and Andrew Vargo. Private family visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183, followed by funeral Mass at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Joel Boco as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Albert Vargo to St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church or to St. Jude’s Hospital. The family would also like to thank the staff at Hallsworth House and Via Quest Hospice for their loving care and support given to Dad. Condolences accepted at the funeral home’s website, www.parzynskifuneralhome.com.
