Archie M. ‘Butch’ Caseber – New Eagle
Archie M. “Butch” Caseber, 79, of New Eagle, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2020, after suffering a stroke. Born Nov. 25, 1941 in Mingo, he was the son of Archibald and Eva Barkley Caseber. He was a 1959 graduate of Monongahela High School and a Green Beret. Archie served 11 years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and the next 21 years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired in 2003 from U.S. Steel, Clairton Works. Presbyterian by faith, he was a member of the Haymakers and Hoot Owls clubs in New Eagle, American Legion Post 949 in Carroll Township and recently became a lifetime member of the Henry M. Phillips Masonic Lodge in Monongahela. Archie loved restoring antique cars, and his 1960 Corvette was his pride and joy. Surviving are his wife, Blanche Cislak Caseber; a son, Daniel Caseber of Monongahela; and a daughter, Sheri (David) Lane of New Eagle; two grandsons, Michael (Mary) Woods of Monongahela and Shane Woods of Pittsburgh; and his faithful companion, Maggie Mae. Preceding him in death was his sister, Georgia Swart. Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service at Monongahela Cemetery beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, with Pastor Glenn McClelland officiating with full military honors.
