Anna Mae Kaboly – Monessen

By obits

Anna Mae Kaboly, 98, passed away of natural causes in peace on Friday, Dec. 4, 2020. She was born on Aug. 3, 1922, in Monessen, daughter of the late Marko and Mildred Guyich Sutovich, the youngest of their eight children. A lifelong resident of Monessen, Anna Mae resided at Hallsworth House since 2013. Affectionately known by staff as “Studda Bubba,” she was an avid crocheter, passing out hundreds of doilies over the years to friends and visitors. After dinner, she could be found in the living room swapping stories of her Serbian roots and the good old days on 12th Street and Morgan Avenue. At age 16, she began working at Shire Brothers Clothing, a few storefronts up from her home on Schoonmaker Avenue. Widowed and a single mother of two at the age of 36 in the 1960s, she became a school lunch lady at Vocational Elementary and then went on to work for the Cole/Dacko Agency of Nationwide Insurance until her retirement in 1986. During her leisure years, she enjoyed watching WWF wrestling, making pizzelles and “hanging out” with her lady friends at Libby’s Dairy Bar. She was an early member of St. John’s Russian Orthodox Church and a founding member of the former Monessen Volunteer Fire Department No. 2 Ladies Auxiliary. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Kelly” Kaboly; son, Charles “Butch” Kaboly; five brothers, Charles Sutovich, Nick Sutovich, John Sucevic, Stanley Sutovich and George Sutovich; and two sisters, Helen Relich and Anna Povich. She is survived by a son, Gary (Kate Knorr) of Pittsburgh; three grandsons and their wives, Brian (Heather), Keith (Casey) and Mark (Jennifer); four great-granddaughters; Porter, Sydney, Jillian and Briella; four great-grandsons, Matthew, James, Nathaniel and Wyatt; and scores of nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces and great-great nephews and great-great nieces. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the recent increase of infections, there will be no public visitation or service. Anna Mae would want everyone to be safe. ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., www.billicksfuneralhome.com, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Monessen Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department, 1510 Marion Ave., Monessen, PA 15062.
