Senior night was a memorable one for the Ringgold hockey team in more ways than one.
The recognition with their teammates, pictures with the parents and, of course, flowers for mom.
But there was a lot more for the Rams to celebrate on Monday at the Rostraver Ice Garden.
Fourteen different players finished with a point, nine players netted at least a goal and senior captain Zach Kalinowski picked up his 100th career point as Ringgold pounded Central Valley, 20-0, in PIHL Class B play.
Kalinowski scored six times and had two assists to lead the Rams (7-0-0) and in doing so, took the league lead in goals and points. Ethan Saylor also had a hat trick and three helpers, Nathan Boulanger had a goal and six assists, and Hunter Suarez notched his first two goals of the season to go along with four assists.
As bad as the lopsided score was, Rams coach Rick Kalinowski had implored his team to back off the accelerator.
But there was not much that could be done when the puck was going in the net.
“I feel bad for (Central Valley) because it’s no fun being on the other side of that,” Kalinowski said. “We told our guys to just pass and no hitting They are a well-coached team, they’re just young.”
Zach Kalinowski joined Nathan Todd and Evan Eberlein as the only three players in program history to score 100 points in the last 20 years.
“I was really glad that I got (100 points), I could not have done it without my teammates,” said Kalinowski. “Everyone helped out and it is a big milestone for me.”
