Self-accountability key for Thomas Jefferson wrestling program

Michael Ladick beams with a frenetic but meticulous energy.
It’s the type of energy fit for a wrestling coach, but as Ladick has found out, not always fit for these COVID-affected times.
Ladick often finds himself worrying about things going haywire, or himself or someone on the Thomas Jefferson wrestling team getting sick.
But as Ladick has quickly found out, he doesn’t have to worry much about his team.
A mature group, Ladick lauds his team for taking every necessary step to stay healthy.
Washing hands and wearing masks, of course, doesn’t win a wrestling match, but self-accountability does. The same type of accountability it takes to stay healthy is what it takes to evaluate and fine-tune a wrestling repertoire. This group has that in spades, Ladick said.
“We have a great group of seniors. They’re tough and committed and bringing on the younger guys,” Ladick said.
“I think the group has become a little more conscious of what they need to improve, and they’ve taken the time with each other because they’ll call each other out on it. In year’s past they would let things slide, but this year the guys don’t let things slide. There’s a lot of self-accountability within the group that I think is just as important as the moves that they’re working on.”
