Craig B. Saxon, 49, of Belle Vernon, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, in his home surrounded by his family. A son of the late Gerald A. Saxon and Elsa Shaffer Saxon, who survives and resides in White Oak, he was born in McKeesport on Sept. 4, 1971. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 17 years, Craig was formerly of McKeesport where he played high school baseball and was very proud of playing in the high school drum corps. Craig had a Bachelor’s of Science and Master’s Degree in guidance counseling, both from Cal U, and was a member of the Theta XI fraternity. Craig was the current assistant coach of the Pittsburgh Pride and had previously coached several travel softball teams. He had a deep love of coaching and sharing his knowledge of the game. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, whom he met on April 6, 1997, Jennifer Basile Saxon; two daughters, Mackenzie Granato and Olivia Saxon, both of Belle Vernon; a sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Bob Winzek; a brother and sister in-law, Todd and Courtney Saxon of Canonsburg; and nieces and nephews, Brent Winzek, Krista (Tyler) Smotherman, Emily Saxon, Tyler Saxon, Haden Tymoczko, Carter Tymoczko and Drake Saxon. Next to his family, Craig was most passionate about baseball (Pittsburgh Pirates) and his music (Lynyrd Skynyrd). Friends will be received from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com, 724-929-5300. Face masks are required in the funeral home. Funeral services for the family will be private with the Rev. Ed Hanley officiating.
