Carroll Township supervisors are preparing to approve next year’s budget, and the proposed figures do not include a tax increase.
Supervisors released the township’s proposed figures at Tuesday’s public meeting. Chairman Tom Rapp said cuts had to be made, although he confirmed after the meeting there are no employee layoffs.
“We can’t even say we’re having a tax increase because there isn’t one,” Rapp said. “We’re getting less money from real estate this year because of the people getting reductions in their taxes and properties that were reduced gigantically. We lost somewhere around a million dollars (in tax revenue). We had to make some cuts, which we did.”
The budget will be available for review at the borough building, with a final vote set for a special meeting at 9 a.m. Dec. 15.
