Catherine ‘Babe’ Baroffio – Westminster, Md., formerly of Monongahela

Catherine “Babe” Baroffio, 89, of Westminster, Md., formerly of Monongahela, died peacefully, comforted by family, on Nov. 25, 2020. She was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Elrama, Pa., daughter of John and Catherine Cola. Babe held various administrative working positions over the years while centering her life around her family and home. She was known as a wonderful cook, baker and gardener who loved being outdoors. She enjoyed travel and attending the activities and sporting events of her children and grandchildren. A devout Christian, Babe was a member of First Baptist Church of Monongahela and Class of Ruth. She will be remembered by her children and grandchildren for being a selfless, gentle, intelligent, witty and fun person who always wanted to help her family. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Bryan (Susan) Baroffio of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughter, Becky (Eugene “Rob”) Uhlman of Finksburg, Md.; four grandchildren, Brett Baroffio, Brooke (Shawn) Ryden, Carly (Alex) Childs and Jesse Uhlman; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Albert “Rip” Baroffio Jr., whom she lovingly cared for years after his illness until his death in 2004; four sisters, Ann Kunz, Mary Freycenet, Rose Walters and Wilda Baxter; and three brothers, George, Metro and John Cola Jr. Private visitation and funeral services were held at Frye Funeral Home Inc., followed by interment in Monongahela Cemetery.
