Warriors swimming teams expect to face obstacles

The 2019-20 swimming season was one to remember for many reasons at Elizabeth Forward.

The EF girls won the WPIAL team championship last winter, but were dashed in their chances at PIAA gold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s version of the EF swimmers will have to replace several seniors but have several returning contributors on the girls side and a few newcomers for both the girls and boys.

However, stamping this team as a contender to repeat as WPIAL champions is not something head coach Shawna Boden is even close to doing.

“I hate to even think that far in advance at this point,” Boden said. “There are so many obstacles this season that we are taking things day by day. Of course, the girls would love to be back at the top of the WPIAL, but right now they just want to be able to be in the water. We are doing everything we can to keep everyone safe and healthy, and want to have a season. We will think about championships when and if the time comes.”
