For the past six years, Don Zombek lit up his neighborhood with a holiday light show set to music and used the display to raise funds for Make-A-Wish.
The lights at 214 Williamsburg Drive in Elizabeth Township will come on for the first time this year at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. They will be synchronized to a 20-minute musical program that will repeat throughout the evening and every evening, weather permitting, through the end of the year.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on hand from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, with hot chocolate and individually wrapped sugar cookies available. There will also be a donation box on site for Make-a-Wish and a mailbox for letters to Santa, which is a new addition this year.
The first night has been a huge fundraising event in past years, but the pandemic has forced adjustments to this seventh year of the display.
There are still plenty of lights. In fact, there are 10,000 more lights this year, bringing the total to 40,000 and another animatronic elf has been added to the display, for a total of three animatronic figures, but the party atmosphere will be toned down considerably.
