Mon Valley Jeepers ready for two-day toy collection

With the holidays quickly approaching, the Mon Valley Jeepers hope to collect more toys than ever before.

The nonprofit organization was formed nearly 10 years ago and gathers local Jeep fans for meet-ups, off-road activities and charity events each year.

For the past four years, the group has held a stuff-a-bus event to aid the Mon Valley Leathernecks’ annual Toys for Tots effort.

Last year, the group filled an entire school bus with toys that were dropped off to Wally Fronzaglio, long-time organizer of the Mon Valley Leathernecks’ Toys for Tots collection.

Mon Valley Jeepers President Tom Fronzaglio said the event will look a little different than in past years, but the need continues to grow.

“We usually fill one bus every year, but this year we are hoping to do more because we know the need is a lot greater,” he said.

Members of the Mon Valley Jeepers, who partnered with 42 Jeepers and the Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority this year, will have a two-day collection event for the first time.

The bus will be stationed at Lowe’s in Rostraver Township from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.
