Members of the Christian Assembly of God in Bentleyville won’t let the COVID pandemic cancel their Christmas celebration.
Instead of performing its annual Christmas play inside the church, the Children’s Ministry will hold a free, live drive-through Nativity in the church’s outdoor parking lot.
The event will he held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12 at the church’s 100 Meadow Drive location.
Christian Assembly of God bookkeeper and the event’s organizer, Charity Doyle, said this year will be the first year the church has performed a live, outdoor Nativity scene.
“The hard part was trying to get a lot of volunteers. That’s always so much fun,” Doyle said with a laugh about organizing the Nativity for the first time. “I was just sitting here thinking I really didn’t want to cancel the Christmas play for the kids.
“The idea just hit me, so I ran it by everyone and they liked the idea. I didn’t realize how excited people get doing this. We could add on to it every year.”
