‘Tis the season to volunteer

By Stacy Wolford

Alan Roberts of Monessen rang the Salvation Army red-kettle bell Wednesday evening in front of Monessen Foodland. Each year, volunteers with seasonal bells stand alongside the famous red kettles at locations across the Valley to raise money for programs provided by the Salvation Army to aid local families. Capt. Sue Thwaite said they are in desperate need of bell ringers. Bell ringers started at Foodland in Monessen last month and others will be stationed at Walmart, Giant Eagle and Shop N’ Save in Rostraver Township. To volunteer this season, call the Salvation Army in Monessen at 724-684-4282.
