Postseason honors keep coming for local soccer players as we near the winter seasons.

The Class 2A All-WPIAL Boys Team was announced this week and four local players found themselves on the squad.

Two players each from Charleroi and Elizabeth Forward were named to the squad as well as EF head coach Doug Finke.

Finke was selected as the Coach of the Year after leading the Warriors to a 12-3-2 overall record and a trip to the WPIAL semifinals.

Elizabeth Forward, which also won its first section championship in 22 years, was eliminated by No. 1 overall seed Shady Side Academy.

Joining their coach with the postseason honor were seniors Andrew Smith and Donovan Woytsek.

Smith reached 100 career points this season and was a constant threat to score any time he got the ball.

“I’m so proud for Andrew getting this acknowledgment. He has really become a well-rounded player over the last four years and he put together a complete season,” Finke said of his senior captain.

Smith finished the season with 12 goals and seven assists for the Warriors.

“He took on a new position this year and still had a memorable season,” Finke said. “He was a constant threat on the outside and coaches took notice of that.”
