Work began Monday on a new booster station for Pennsylvania American Water in Elizabeth Township.
According to Heather DuBose, external affairs senior specialist with the company, construction will last through March.
“We don’t anticipate any disruption of service,” DuBose said. “Anyone who may be affected by noise or construction activity has been notified.”
DuBose said the booster station sits back off the road and construction shouldn’t impact motorists, adding that there are only a few houses in the immediate area that might even hear any construction noise. Work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
The booster station will help pump water to key service areas while also improving service reliability and fire protection for customers. The total cost of this investment is $1.3 million.
“These continued investments in Pennsylvania American Water’s infrastructure allow us to meet current and future water demands of the communities we serve,” said Senior Manager of Operations Jake Gentile. “The new booster station will enable the company to maintain adequate pressure and improve fire flows.”
