Ringgold head coach Rick Kalinowski wasn’t at all pleased by his team’s performance in a 3-1 victory over Connellsville in PIHL Class B play Monday at the Rostraver Ice Garden.
Kalinowski watched as his Rams (3-0) compiled a commanding 41-12 shot advantage, but struggled to capitalize on key opportunities. Ringgold was held scoreless for the entirety of the third period and more than 16 minutes in the second.
“The pucks were there, waiting for us to score, and we just weren’t in the right positions,” Kalinowski said. “We thought we made adjustments but the adjustments just weren’t there.
“I personally think we were looking past this team to what was next. We kicked butt, but I’m not happy and the boys aren’t happy.”
Connellsville (1-3) struggled to get much going offensively, scoring its lone goal in the third period on a shot in front of the net by Gavin O’Brien. Ian Zerecheck and Kolby Lint picked up assists.
The Falcons’ defense, however, played well given the offensive pressure the Rams put on display. Alex Mitchell was a difference maker in net, finishing with 38 saves.
“We got good goaltending tonight, Alex played a really good game,” Connellsville head coach Ray Brown said. “We were down a couple of defensemen for different reasons and had some guys go back to help out, so I thought they all did a good job defensively.”
