Jeff Bibel and David Sethman are doing their part to make sure U.S. military veterans who lost their lives in the Vietnam War will not be forgotten.
As members of the charitable organization Bikers Helping Others, Bibel and Sethman are on a mission to bring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to Belle Vernon in August.
“We were looking for a way to say thank you to Vietnam veterans,” said Sethman, the group’s road captain. “We said ‘Let’s get the wall.’”
Bikers Helping Others formed three years ago when Bibel, the group’s president, Sethman and four other founding members learned of a lung transplant patient in Gettysburg whose bucket wish was to ride a motorcycle.
The group pooled together and bought a sidecar, and the woman was soon riding with 400 of her biker friends.
The group now helps struggling local families during the holidays by providing meals, toys and even granting wishes to children.
“That’s what we’re all about,” Sethman, a union operator, said. “Anything they need, we supply it all.”
