A Donora native now living in Monessen was surprised when she was selected as this year’s Generosity Award honoree for Pressley Ridge.

Nellie Oslowski is a home community liaison at the Day School Greensburg, an emotional support school that is one of 70 programs run by Pressley Ridge.

The Day School serves students in Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties. Pressley Ridge has programs in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware.

Oslowski said being chosen for the Fay Mosle Generosity Award came as a surprise. The award was created in 2019 in honor of Pressley Ridge Board Member Fay Mosle’s unwavering generosity and kindness.

Its intent is to recognize the efforts of staff who exhibit generosity by giving back to our communities, as well as teaching youths the importance of being generous and unselfish. The award was presented to Oslowski by Mosle at the organization’s virtual Employee Recognition Event earlier this month.

“Pressley Ridge as a whole is a pretty big company,” Oslowski said. “Every program nominates someone for this award. To be picked out of that many people is really a special recognition.”

Oslowski has worked for Pressley Ridge for more than six years, starting in March 2014 as a special education teacher, then moving into a behavioral specialist position before taking her current job a year ago.

“Within our organization we have a backpack program,” Oslowski said. “We try to give each family member breakfast, lunch and dinner for the weekend. I look for ways to get that funded through donations and food drives. Denny’s in Belle Vernon did a food drive for us last year.

Tuscano Agency, an insurance agency in Greensburg, is also a sponsor.

“Community liaison is by far the most rewarding position because I get to serve the families,” Oslowski said. “It’s helping the families find their areas of need, then filling them.”
