Mary Madeline Gilman

Mary Madeline Gilman, 86, passed away on Nov. 10, 2020. A native of Monessen, she was born to William and Madeline Parkinson on Aug. 21, 1934. She was a graduate of Monessen High School, Class of 1952, and earned an education degree from California University in 1969. She led a very active life and enjoyed entertaining, boating, cruising and traveling with family and friends. For many years, she loved teaching students in the Monessen School District. Some of her hobbies included playing bridge and reading. She is survived by her two sons, Dean Thomas Gilman and Richard George Gilman; her grandson, Jamie Owen Gilman and his wife Alison; and her two great-granddaughters, Tiger Lily and Primrose Mary; her step-grandson, Charles Rhatigann (Jenny); step-great-grandchildren, Hanna, Camden and Grace; sister, Cathy Parkinson Keener (David); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her lifetime sweetheart of many years, husband Billy Owen Gilman; her son, Billy William Gilman (Debbie); her brother, William R. Parkinson (Ruth); and sister, Lois Parkinson Jones (Lee). In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Westmoreland County Food Bank. The website is https://westmorelandfoodbank.org.
