Richard William Oprosky Sr., 90, of Buena Vista, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020. He was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Smithton and was the son of the late Joseph William and Anna Koshar Oprosky. He was the husband of the late Josephine Fronzaglio Oprosky who passed away April 8, 2006. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, West Newton. As a young man, Richard delivered milk for the former Schwirian Dairy. His other jobs included working for the former Combustion Engineering Foundry in Monongahela, Elizabeth Township Road Department and LaFarge, formerly Duquesne Slag. He is survived by daughters, Patsy (James) Domingo of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Diana (Boyd) Rankin of Elizabeth Township, and Joanne (Wayne) Braucher of Port Vue; a son, Richard (Robin) Oprosky Jr., of Elizabeth Township; grandchildren, Robert Domingo, Jacqueline Rankin Graham, Julie Rankin Heullen, Carley (Mike) Morenczy, Anna Marnell, Tina (Rick) Leach, Tim Marnell, Shanon Oprosky Wilson, and Shane Oprosky; great-grandchildren, Dan Morenczy, Joshua, Nicki and Shelby Laughlin, Ryan Pitterich, Henry and Evelyn Graham, Olivia Mochar, Julian and Josephine Huellen, Dominic and Eliana Leach, Devin Marnell, and Logan Joos; sisters, Elaine Janitor of Sutersville and Ruth Jesberger of Ohio; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Elda) Oprosky and Thomas (Evelyn) Oprosky. Friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at the GILBERT FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 1638 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 412-672-6322, Troy J. Gilbert, director. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. Saturday. Interment will follow at the West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elizabeth Township Police Department K-9 Unit. Condolences may be made at Gilbertfuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
