Elizabeth Forward’s Mrvos offers multiple ways to attack

Nico Mrvos isn’t your ordinary playmaker.
That’s because he can make plays in more ways than one.
Line him up at wide receiver and Mrvos will do whatever he can to come away with the ball and race up field for extra yardage. Place him under center and he can put his arm strength on display or show off his ability to run.
Mrvos is a tough player to contain and it’s even more difficult to stop him completely.
“I try to keep the same amount of pride in everything I do whether it be in the run game, pass game or on defense,” said Mrvos, a senior at Elizabeth Forward. “Every day, I try to challenge and push my teammates to be the best they can be.”
The 6-1, 190-pound Mrvos has embraced the role as a so-called “Swiss Army Knife” in Elizabeth Forward’s high-powered offense and is a big reason why the team will play in its first WPIAL championship game in program history Friday.
Third-seeded EF faces top-seeded Central Valley 7 p.m. at North Allegheny.
“We wouldn’t be here without Nico,” Elizabeth Forward head coach Mike Collodi said. “In my six years at EF, Nico is the most dynamic player that I’ve coached. He is so dynamic that we plug him in wherever we need him and he creates mismatches no matter what he’s doing.”
