By obits

Charlesa L. “Chickie” Saksun, 71, of Monessen went to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 9, 2020, in UPMC East in Monroeville. Born in North Charleroi on Feb.13, 1949, she was the daughter of the late William “Chase” and Dorothy Rasko Evancho. She was a former member St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church and a current member of St. Sebastian’s Roman Catholic Church. Chickie was a member of Monessen High School, Class of 1967, and continued her education where she later graduated from St. Margaret’s Nursing School. She retired from UPMC Presbyterian Hospital as a registered nurse. She spent her retired years with her grandchildren, who she loved beyond and could never get enough of. Every morning you could find her with a cup of coffee and piece of toast. She had a passion for watching tennis, Hallmark movies, evening crossword puzzles, baking and a love for the beach. Hosting holiday dinners was her true passion because family was everything for her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Laurel Senitta. She is survived by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Saksun; two daughters, Kimberly (Brian) Marshall of Charleroi and Jennifer Saksun of Bridgeville; a son, Adam (Lisa) Saksun; two granddaughters, Hunter and Chase Kossar; two grandsons, Kevin and Cameron Saksun; and a sister, Gloria “Ginger” Pollack of Monongahela. Private viewing for family members will be Friday, Nov. 13, in the ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, www.billicksfuneralhome.com. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks and social distancing are required and guests will be limited in the funeral home.
