Ringgold used a big third period effort to turn a one-goal lead into a lopsided 8-2 victory over Elizabeth Forward in PIHL Class B play Monday at the Rostraver Ice Garden.

The Rams (2-0), who led by two goals after two periods before coming away with a 9-3 win over the Warriors (1-2) last week, held a 3-2 edge after two periods in the rematch. Then, they once again netted five goals in the third period to seal the win in a big way.

“They played us tight for two periods in the last game and it was the same thing tonight,” Ringgold coach Rick Kalinowski said. “I didn’t like playing EF back to back because I knew (EF coach) John (Zeiler) and those guys wanted us bad. We were able to come through, so that’s good. We’re very appreciative that we were able to do it in front of all the fans that came out to support the team.”

Kenny Cadwallader, a freshman playing in just his second varsity game for the Rams, led the way in the third period for Ringgold, scoring his second consecutive hat trick.

He netted his first goal of the night 26 seconds into the third as he scored on a rebound chance off a shot by Nick Nagy. Hunter Suarez also picked up an assist on the power play goal.
