Clara Elizabeth Gricar – Monongahela

Clara Elizabeth Gricar, 90, of Monongahela, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born Oct. 29, 1930, in Washington, daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth King Yavoich. In her younger years, Clara was a cook at the D&D Diner on Main Street in Monongahela and a former member of the Valley Inn Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, listening to country music and caring for her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, William Gricar and Darla Porter of Monongahela, and Richard Gricar and wife Diana of Charleroi; and her brother, Harry Yavoich of Clairton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gricar, who died June 21, 1993; two brothers, Ray and Jim Yavoich; and her sister, Betty Holmes. Friends will be received from 11 to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2020, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. In order to be compliant with our county and state guidelines, masks MUST be worn and social distancing maintained.
