Phyllis J. Bakewell – Belle Vernon

Phyllis J. Bakewell, 86, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020. A daughter of the late Joseph A. and Hazel Dyson Smith, she was born on Aug.16, 1934. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Phyllis was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belle Vernon. She collected cookbooks and salt and pepper shakers, loved to garden and loved to bake, especially her chocolate chip cheesecake. She is survived by her husband, John R. “Jack” Bakewell, with whom she celebrated 67 years of marriage with on Oct.16; two daughters and a son in-law, Debbie Blair of West Newton and Pam and David Druciak of Deltona, Fla..; two grandchildren, David Druciak, Jr. and Alisha Druciak, both of Deltona, Fla.; and a great-grandson, Lucas Ostrander. Friends will be received on Friday, Nov. 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Face masks are required in the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the funeral home with Pastor Ryan Washabaugh officiating.
