In Pennsylvania’s 18th Congressional District, Democrat Mike Doyle was holding onto his seat as election night drew to a close with nearly 85% of the votes.
Doyle, the incumbent, is opposed by Republican Luke Negron, who had about 15% of the vote with about 46% of the precincts reporting just before midnight.
Doyle has been a Congressman since 1995. Doyle said his top priority if given another term is to ensure that the nation gets through the COVID-19 crisis, fighting climate change, defending Social Security and protecting Obamacare.
Negron said his priorities, if elected, would be to be in touch with the citizenry he would represent and not hide from his district. He also pledged to push for congressional term limits.
The 18th District serves the Mon Valley communities of Clairton, Dravosburg, East McKeesport, Elizabeth Borough, Elizabeth Township, Forward Township, Glassport, Jefferson Hills, Liberty, Lincoln, McKeesport, Pleasant Hills and Port Vue.
