Wilda M. Cola Baxter – Monongahela

Wilda M. Cola Baxter, 95, of Monongahela, Carroll Township, died peacefully Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, surrounded in her home by family. Born Dec. 29, 1924, in Elrama, she was the daughter of John and Catherine Cola. Devoted to her family, Wilda worked for many years at the former Mayview State Hospital. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Monongahela and belonged to their Class of Ruth. Wilda was a master pie maker and talented needle-crafter who sewed both quilts and holiday décor by hand. She helped raise her grandchildren, enjoyed playing cards with family and placed her family and friends at the center of her life. Surviving are three daughters: Donna Kemp, Carol Baxter, Darla and husband David Kearns. She is also survived by her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kym (Sylvester) and Paul King (Vanessa and Will King), Marc Sylvester, Amy (Kemp) and Jack Burgess (Jessie and Walt Unfricht and Kaitie and Jon Keen), Paula Kemp (Austin Kemp), Richard Kemp II (Brittany, Danni, Stevie and Mackenzie Kemp), Morgan Baxter, Madison Baxter, Jamie (Kearns) and Mike McConaha (Adalyn, Viviana and Bennett McConaha), David Kearns II and Heather Kearns (David Kearns III), and Aaron Kearns. Wilda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Albert H. Baxter; three brothers; three sisters; and son-in-law, Richard Kemp. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2020, at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com. Friends and family are asked to go directly to First Baptist Church, 601 W. Main St., Monongahela, for a funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020, with the Rev. Mark Schollaert officiating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. Guests are asked to please abide by personal protective guidelines and social distancing.
