Eleven local girls soccer players were recently named as all-WPIAL selections.

Bentworth led all area teams with three selections in Class A. Representing the Bearcats were junior goalkeeper Jasmine Manning, junior defender Maleena Rokicki and sophomore forward Reagan Schreiber.

Manning was the only non-senior keeper selected to the All-WPIAL squad in Class A.

“She’s very comfortable in herself, a good leader and can steal goals away,” Bentworth head coach Tyler Hamstra said. “We’ve been so fortunate to have a great lineage of keepers on both sides here at Bentworth. She’s definitely right there on the list already.”

Rokicki has served as a force on Bentworth’s backline for the past three years, using her speed and impressive work ethic to her advantage.

“It’s been great to watch her develop and take that step,” Hamstra said.
“It’s hard to get All-WPIAL as a defender. She turned a lot of heads this year.”

Schreiber was the Bearcats top offensive threat all season long, finishing with 25 goals to go with eight assists.

“She really did a great job filling in for all the fire power we graduated,” Hamstra said. “She embraced the role and was one of the best goal scorers in WPIAL let alone in Class A.”

Serra Catholic senior midfielder Jaime Dermotta was the other local player named All-WPIAL in Class A.

A four-time all-section selection and now two-time All-WPIAL pick, Dermotta helped lead the Eagles to a WPIAL quarterfinal appearance this year.

She finished her high school career with 59 career goals and 64 career assists.
