Genevieve J. Kornosky, 92, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020 in Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela. She was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Monessen, the daughter of Walter and Sophia Miyka Lewgood. Genevieve was a graduate of Monessen High School and a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela. A homemaker, she enjoyed playing bingo, going to card clubs and especially spending time with her family. Genevieve is survived by two daughters, Diane and husband Randy Brletich of Donora and Cindy and husband Paul Weiss of Carroll Township; six grandchildren, Deanna and Nathan Hrutkay, John Brletich II, Sarah and husband Bryan Bell, and Amanda and Alaina Weiss; six great-grandchildren, Jaymie, Keegan and Kaden Hrutkay, Tyler and Micah Bell and Scott Cook; and her sister, Eleanor Bozik of Monessen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Bunky” Kornosky, who died July 29, 2006; two brothers, Stanley and Tony Lewgood; and a sister, Helen Ducar. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2020 in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Committal services and entombment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
