McKeesport Area School District parents and guardians now have a way to keep track of positive COVID-19 cases in the schools.
McKeesport Area Superintendent Dr. Mark Holtzman introduced a new online real-time COVID-19 tracker to the school board during Wednesday’s meeting.
The district is encouraging families to check the tracker, which is a digital dashboard that can be found at www.mckasd.net under the “COVID-19” tab, for the most up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 cases within MASD.
The tracker contains a case breakdown of all positive cases of the virus within the district since the start of the 2020-21 school year. As of 9 p.m. Wednesday, it showed there have been a total of 14 positive COVID-19 cases district wide.
There have been seven cases in the high school, all among students, according to the tracker, which shows there have been two cases at Founders’ Hall Middle School (one student and one employee); two positive cases at Francis McClure Elementary School, both among staff members; and three cases at Twin Rivers Elementary School, all among students.
“We’ve been very fortunate in the last eight or nine days,” Holtzman said. “We’ve only had one positive case.”
