McKeesport HS clothing for sale with retro logo

Those who roamed the halls as McKeesport High School students in the mid-1970s and 1980s are getting a chance to relive a small part of their youthful glory days and show off their Tiger pride.

And to fit in with the current youthful trend of loving all things nostalgic, McKeesport Area High School students are getting the chance to add one more piece of retro clothing to their wardrobes.

In an attempt to recoup some of the revenues lost from not being able to hold many of its scheduled or regular programs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center is selling Russell hoodies and crew neck sweatshirts featuring the flocked McKeesport Tigers logo from the ’70s and ’80s. The fuzzy flocking feels similar to a black light poster or velvet painting.

Flocked adult hoodies cost $55 for sizes small to 2XL. Adult 3XL and 4XL hoodies are $60, and youth hoodies are $52.

Flocked crew necks cost $50 for adult sizes small to XL, $54 for adult 2XL to 4XL and $45 for youth sizes.

For a slightly lower cost, the center is also selling screen-printed (no flocking) T-shirts and crew necks.

The apparel is available in several colors. Current MHS students can visit the high school office to learn how they can get a discount when purchasing.

“This is a fundraiser,” History and Heritage Center board member Andi Luketic Cartwright said. “We haven’t been able to have our programs, other than the cemetery tour, and really are — like everyone right now — scrambling to find that thing that could help us through this.”
