William ‘Bill’ Tonti – New Eagle

William “Bill” Tonti passed away into eternal life on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, with his family by his side at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. He was born July 13, 1939, in Pittsburgh, son of the late William A. and Mary Josephine Hollis Tonti. Bill attended Oliver High School and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. For many years, he was the service manager at Downtown Pontiac in Pittsburgh. He was a member of True Vine Anglican Church in Monongahela and Glassport American Legion Post No. 443. Bill’s happy times were listening to the oldies, getting his huge train set ready for Christmas and enjoying his hometown Steelers. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Noreen Simmen Tonti, with whom he would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on Nov. 3, 2020; his dearly loved mother-in-law, Norma L. Simmen; adored daughters, Marcy (John) Kegges, Debbie (Joe) DeSalle, Carrie (Andy) Codelka; blessed grandchildren, Jonathan Kegges and fiancée Erika, Ryan (Kiersten) Kegges, Matthew Kegges and fiancé Kiera, Logan DeSalle and Ava, Tim, and Ben Codelka; two sisters, Donna (Lee) Rushneck and Marlene (Sam) Cianciulli; brother, Gerry (Shelly) Tonti; two sisters-in-law, Arlene (Wayne) Hammerstrom and Joyce (Denny) O’Dell; brother-in-law, Oscar (Donna) Simmen; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. Funeral services will be private. Interment will be held in Monongahela Cemetery. In order to be compliant with our county and state guidelines, masks MUST be worn and social distancing maintained.
