Jerry Trotta – Monongahela, Carroll Township
Jerry Trotta, 73, of Monongahela, Carroll Township, died Thursday, Oct, 22, 2020, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 26, 1946, in Monon-gahela, he was the son of the late Robert C. and Hazel Cornett Trotta. After his graduation from Monongahela High School in 1964, Jerry served three years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. For 36 years, Jerry worked as a maintenance supervisor for U.S. Steel, Irwin Works, until his retirement in 2003. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela, Jerry enjoyed golfing, especially with his grandson Garrett, son-in-law Ron and good friends, Ron and Frank, and attending his granddaughter Allison’s Friday night football dance routines. He also liked hunting, fishing and going to car shows with his Corvette, but most of all spending the winters with his family renting a townhouse at Hidden Valley Resort. Surviving are his wife of 53 years Sylvia Bury Trotta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristin and Ronald Toth of Donora and Regina and Robert Berner of Scott Township; two grandchildren, Garrett and Allison Berner; a brother-in-law, William and wife Anna Marie Bury of Elizabeth Township; his godson, Matthew Bury; three nephews, Anthony, Fred and Michael Trotta; and two nieces, Sharon Boster and Stephanie, husband Tim Holowaty and their daughter Evelyn; and his grand dogs, Oliver and Maggie. Preceding him in death were three brothers, Anthony, Frank and Bobby Trotta. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020. Funeral prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. that will be celebrated in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 722 West Main St., Monongahela. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township, with military honors conducted by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
