Pa. residents can vote at county election offices

Pennsylvania voters don’t need to count on the postal system to make sure their absentee or mail-in ballot is counted.

Anyone can vote early by going to the election office in their county and requesting a ballot, filling it out and handing it back, using the envelopes provided by the election bureau, including an inner sealed envelope that guarantees privacy in the voting process.

Ballots may also be requested before Oct. 27.

Once received in the mail, the completed ballot may either be mailed back or delivered in person to a designated location.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar reviewed how to vote early in person at county election offices and satellite election offices.

“I voted early in person in Bucks County, and it was easy, convenient and secure,” Boockvar said. “I recommend it highly — you don’t have to worry about the mail, and you can do it on your own schedule as long as the county election office is open.”

In Westmoreland County, 69,519 absentee and mail-in ballots have been approved, 64,604 have been mailed out and 28,410 completed ballots have been received, according to the Westmoreland County Election Bureau website.

Completed ballots may be dropped off seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Westmoreland County Courthouse lobby on Main Street, Greensburg, until Election Day, Nov. 3. There are also a number of drop-off locations with varying days and times.

In Monessen, completed ballots may be dropped off at the Adult Probation office on Riverview Drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 1.

Additional times and locations may be found on the Westmoreland County Election Bureau website.

There are no drop-box locations in Fayette County, but completed ballots may be dropped off at the Election Bureau, located on the first floor of the Public Safety Building, 22 E. Main St., Uniontown, PA 15401.
