Myra Jean O’Neil Smith – Monongahela

Myra Jean O’Neil Smith, 88, of Monongahela, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. She was born June 27, 1931, in Monongahela, the youngest of 11 (and two infant) children of James Thomas O’Neil and Augusta Mary Heirsouix O’Neil. Myra was raised near the river and railroad in Monongahela. She was employed at Monongahela/Ringgold School District processing center and Ringgold High School Library. She is now baking and reading a good book; watching a hockey or baseball game; dancing or sharing an ice cream with Michael “Mike” Smith, her husband and love of her life. Mike was a foreman at Monongahela Combustion Engineering and a Monongahela/Ringgold School Board director. Myra loved and encouraged all her children. She is the mother of Michael Smith (Marilyn Smith), Andrew Smith (Dottie McGinnis), Jennifer Smith, Wendy Smith (Frank Kislan) and Roberta Smith. She is also the grandma to Meghan Smith, Alexander Smith, Kaitlan Smith (DePinto) and Erin Kislan; and great-grandma of three. Myra was also a mom to the countless number of kids her children brought home to visit. Granting her wishes, there will be no viewing. A private service will take place with immediate family. Arrangements are under the direction of FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 W. Main St., Monongahela. In lieu of flowers or donations, you are to pay kindness forward.
